Today is music legend Taylor Swift's 34th birthday!
If you only know Taylor Swift as a 12-time Grammy-winning music superstar behind hits like "Shake It Off" and "You Belong With Me," you'd be right. But that sure ain't the whole picture.
Whether you're a fan of Taylor Swift or not, it's hard to deny the cultural and financial juggernaut the pop superstar has become this year. Her album "Midnights," released in late 2022, was the year's top-seller at 1.8 million copies, twice that of the second-biggest by Harry Styles. "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)," debuted in July at No. 1, giving Swift her 12th in the top spot, surpassing Barbra Streisand for the most No. 1 albums by a woman artist. Her latest, "1989 (Taylor's Version),' also debuted at No. 1, giving Swift the magical 13th in the top spot.
From dominating the album and streaming charts to her record-breaking 'The Eras Tour' and concert film, the reported new billionaire and Time Magazine's Person of the Year boosted whole economic sectors ranging from small businesses to the global travel industry.
Throughout her massively successful career, Swift has often used her enormous platform for good.
Swift has donated millions of dollars to various charities and causes, including the American Red Cross, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and the New York City Department of Education. She has also used her platform to raise awareness of important issues, such as LGBTQ rights and women's empowerment.
During her stops on 'The Eras Tour', she has gifted generous donations to the local food pantries of the cities she has stopped in. She also gave each of her truck drivers a $100,000 bonus check!
Taylor Swift has dominated the music field since 2006 with her debut album 'Taylor Swift' up to her new album 'Midnights' in 2022. She has revitalized the artist industry by re-recording her old albums to secure the rights to them again with her albums 'Fearless', 'Red', 'Speak Now', and '1989'.
