Kindness Advent Calendar: December 14, 2025 (Day 14)

12/14/2025

🕎Happy Hanukkah🕎

Welcome to Day (or should we say Night) 14 of your Kindness Advent Calendar! Throughout December, we will provide you with your daily act of kindness through our Kindness Advent Calendar! Come and celebrate the holiday season as we are kind all December long.

Tonight marks the first night of Hanukkah, a holiday that celebrates light, resilience, and the enduring power of faith and tradition. Hanukkah commemorates the miracle of a small amount of oil lasting eight nights, reminding us that even in times of struggle, hope can continue to shine.

Hanukkah is a celebration of perseverance and identity. It honors the strength of holding onto beliefs and culture, even when doing so is difficult. The lighting of the menorah each night serves as a symbol that light can grow, one flame at a time, pushing back darkness and uncertainty.

Today is also a moment to reflect on the importance of religious freedom, understanding, and respect. Kindness during Hanukkah can take many forms, such as learning about traditions different from your own, wishing someone a meaningful holiday, or standing up against prejudice and misunderstanding. Small gestures of recognition and care can help people feel seen and valued.

As families and communities gather to light candles, share food, and tell stories, Hanukkah reminds us that connection matters. Whether you celebrate or observe in solidarity, today is an opportunity to honor joy, resilience, and the power of light.

Tonight, let kindness be your candle. Share warmth, show respect, and help spread light in a world that can always use more of it.

"If the lights of Hanukkah are truly to be the lights of freedom, let us kindle them in solidarity with the Palestinian people. If Hanukkah means 'dedication,' let us dedicate our lights this year to the people of Gaza."
